The Starhotels Splendid Venice, totally refurbished, between Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, is wonderfully situated in the heart of Venice. It may be reached even by gondola and by motor-boat, and overlooks romantic bridges and the sparkling facades of the century-old ‘palazzi’. Inside, its pleasant cosy areas and rooms unwind, conveying a delicate elegant atmosphere, like that of an authentic house on the lagoon: from the music room to the media room, from the café to the restaurant, from the library to the large terrace with an altana [partially covered roof-terrace] where to appreciate the unique view of the roof-tops of Venice. There is a ‘campiello’ lounge, the typical outdoor square between ‘calle’ [narrow Venetian streets] and Venetian palaces, in the centre of the hotel; it is closed in by slide-away glass windows, so that it can be enjoyed all year round, even in winter, cuddled by the warmth of the fireplace.

The 165 bedrooms have been totally restored according to the Venetian traditional style re-interpreted with a modern touch, thanks to a contemporary interior design which is, at the same time, elegant. The pearl-grey color of walls, embellished with hand-painted wisteria decorations, turns the bedrooms into very bright areas. The splendid harmonious colors of velvets and silks enrich the heads of the large beds and sofas.
